Since Central Florida was visited by Hurricanes Mathew on October 6, 2016 and Irma that made landfall on September 9, 2017; the St John's River has not returned to its normal state. Mathew was initially more of a wind event when it entered the State, but as it weakened it became more of a water issue. The flooding that took place in Central Florida was significant. Our water level was 5.2 feet above normal height and impacted the river for about 2 months.
