 WILLIAM EDWARD DOOLEY

It is with great sadness that we inform you that our Captain Dooley passed away on Friday, 9/9, from a severe heart attack.

Dooley as he preferred to be called came to work at his normal time and prepared the boat for our morning guests. Shortly after doing that he had trouble breathing and went into the Country Store and asked one of our other Captains to call 911. He said he felt better standing rather than sitting. A few minutes later he collapsed to the floor. Immediately our staff began CPR. When the first responders arrived, they continued life saving measures and took him to Fish Memorial Hospital. The doctors were able to start his heart, but they could not sustain his heart beating.

At this point the family is still in the process of finalizing the funeral arrangements. Capt. Dools was an important member of the team and the business would not have continued over the past few years had it not been for his dedication. He loved the river and sharing it with our visitors. He will be missed by us all.

For the next few days, we may not be operating while we adjust to continuing without Captain Dooley. Please bear with us through this difficult time.

UPDATE:  Capt. Dooley's family has set up a memorial website for him. If you would like to contribute a memory or pay tribute you can do so here: Captain Dooley's Memorial Website

Welcome to Our Eco Tours

St. John's River Eco Tours operate the most eco-friendly sightseeing boat cruise on the St. Johns River.  We operate from the Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort in Debary, Florida.  We offer several boat tours daily, exploring the river, observing the wildlife, and experiencing a section of the St. Johns that is little changed from the days when early explorers visited these enchanting waters.

Conveniently located approximately 40 minutes from Daytona and Orlando, our boat tours are a refreshing change from the usual tourist paths.  So whether you're a birdwatcher, a fan of alligators or manatees, a nature photographer, or are just looking for something a little different, our St. Johns riverboat tours may be just what you are looking for.
