Captain W. E. “Dools” Dooley is a longtime Central Florida resident who has grown up on this section of the River and has a special love for the area. He holds a US Coast Guard 50 ton Master Mariner’s License and lives on a boat on the St. Johns. Captain Dooley is also a writer and lecturer about the environment and the history of the St. Johns River.

Captain Burr lived and worked on a 29,000 acre farm/ranch and then moved to Central Florida. He began his commercial boating career in 2017 and earned his USCG Master Mariners license at the age of 80. Bill is one of Florida’s treasures with deep knowledge of the indigenous people, orchids, farming, and life as it once was and is in Florida.
